Alton DeJean

JEANERETTE — A Home-going celebration will be held for Alton “BoJangle” DeJean, 65, at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, August 4, 2018, at First Jerusalem Baptist Church with Rev. Arthur Lee Alexander officiating. He will await the resurrection at Heavenly Rest Cemetery in Jeanerette.

A gathering of family and friends will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday at First Jerusalem Baptist Church until time of service.

A native and resident of Jeanerette, he passed away at 10:15 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2018, in Jeanerette.

He leaves to cherish his memory, three brothers Jessie Lee Williams, Nelson DeJean and Milton DeJean Sr., all of Jeanerette; two sisters Annie DeJean Linton and Stephanie DeJean Paul, both of Jeanerette; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vivian James DeJean Sr. and Loriska Clay DeJean; one sister Birdie DeJean Boutte; six brothers Ernest DeJean Sr., Vivian James DeJean Jr., Irving DeJean, Allen DeJean, Nolan Dejean and Walter DeJean.

Active pallbearers are Trevon Malveaux, Brian Gilliam Jr., Bryson Johnson, Ronald Boutte Jr., Randolph Armelin III and Anthony Johnson Jr. 

Honorary pallbearers are Jessie Lee Williams, Nelson DeJean, Milton DeJean, Peter DeJean, Ronald Boutte Sr., Anderson Clay Jr., Ernest DeJean Jr., Craig Eugene Sr., Craig Eugene Jr., Walter Richard, Calvin Clay, Toddrick Paul, Michael Dejean, Peter George Boutte, Dwayne Boutte, Kevin Boutte, Quincy DeJean, Eric DeJean, Cordell Lively, Lionel Roberts, Wayne Key, Christopher Gilliam, Clyde Johnson, Tyrell Marks, Donnell Clay, Jason Armelin, Terrance Armelin and Safiyy Abdul’ Ra’oof.
