Ottawa beats Montreal

OTTAWA — Former Westgate High and McNeese State standout Diontae Spencer had 122 yards of total offense as the Ottawa RedBlacks rallied from a six-point third quarter deficit with 13 fourth quarter points to beat Monteal 24-17 Thursday in the CFL.

Spencer finished with six catches for 74 yards, had five punt returns for 32 yards and two kickoff returns for 10 yards for the Redblacks who improved to 5-3 overall and stayed two games up on second place Hamilton in the Eastern Division of the CFL.

Ottawa quarterback Trevor Harris completed 44-of-54 passes, one shy of tying the CFL record, for 487 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the win.

William Powell ran for 104 yards and a touchdown and Greg Ellison caught 11 passes for 110 yards in the win.

Montreal quarterback Johnny Manziel completed 16-of-26 passes for 168 yards for the Alouettes, which fell to 1-7 with the loss.

Ottawa returns to action Friday at Winnipeg.
