NIPD arrests suspect in shooting

Boy, 4, hit by car on La. 14; dies

 suspect wanted for shooting a man in the victim’s home was arrested Wednesday by the New Iberia Police Department. 

NIPD detectives were called Sunday to the 1100 block of St. Jude Avenue to investigate a shooting. During the investigation, the detectives reportedly learned that Trinity John Ledet, 20, entered the residence without permission. 

Once inside the home, Ledet began shooting at the victim. The victim suffered a gunshot wound in the leg and was taken to a Lafayette hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

Detectives ID’d Ledet as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant for home invasion. He is being held at the Iberia Parish Jail.
