Prep football preseason in the books

After a three month wait from the end of spring drills, football made a return to the high school scene Thursday and Friday with jamborees involving Teche Area teams.
Thursday’s jamborees had Catholic High playing Vermilion Catholic in the Ironman Jamboree at Teurlings; St. Martinville playing Teurlings Catholic in the Kiwanis Jamboree at Cajun Field and Hanson and Centerville playing in the Centerville Taco Bell Jamboree at CHS.
Friday had the Iberia Parish Sugar Cane Jamboree at NISH with Delcambre playing Jeanerette, Loreauville playing Highland Baptist and New Iberia Senior High and Westgate finishing up in the final game while over in Franklin, host FSH played West St. Mary in its annual jamboree game.
The regular season begins this week with three Thursday games as New Iberia Senior High travels to St. Martinville Senior High, Abbeville travels to West St. Mary and in the Association of Christian Educators of Louisiana 8-man league, Assembly Christian plays host to Mt. Olive Baptist.
Friday’s games features Catholic High at Westgate; South Cameron at Delcambre, Northwood-Lena at Centerville; Patterson at Franklin; Jeanerette at Sci Academy in New Orleans; Loreauville at Vermilion Catholic; Hanson at St. Edmund in Eunice and Highland Baptist at Houma Christian.
The prep football regular season ends the first weekend of November and the playoffs start a week later.
