JEANERETTE — On August 26, 2018, the pearly gates of heaven opened wide to receive a special woman. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, August 31, 2018, at 10:30 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist Church located on St. Nicholas Street in Jeanerette, with interment at St. John the Evangelist Cemetery. Visitation for Mary Alice Borel Foco will be held at David Funeral Home located at 400 Provost Street in Jeanerette, beginning Thursday, August 30, 2018, at 4 p.m. and will remain open until the time of services on Friday, August 31, 2018. The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.
Mary Alice Borel Foco, age 80, born April 14, 1938, passed away peacefully Sunday, August, 26, 2018, in Lafayette. A native of Jeanerette, and a resident of Lafayette, she celebrated her incredible 80 years as the cornerstone of her family.
Mary Alice, an extremely intelligent, witty and wise woman, had many facets to her life, but her faith would top the list. Her relationship with the Lord brought her through this life as she witnessed many miracles along the way. She was retired from Iberia Parish School Board. She was very proud to be the trailblazer for women as the first woman bus driver in Iberia Parish. Her 40 years of dedication was paramount as she never missed one day on the job. She enjoyed antiquing, dining out and visiting with her children and grandchildren. She will always be remembered by her family as delivering the most uplifting Happy Birthday song on their voice messages.
Mary Alice Foco is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ronald P. Foco; a son Randolph “Randy” Foco and wife, Princess, of Jeanerette; four daughters Melanie F. Hebert of New Iberia, Kimi F. Grisiaffi and husband, Anthony, of Jeanerette, Angela F. Morris and husband, Todd, of Jeanerette and Natalie F. Allain and husband, Randy, of Mandeville; son-in-law Toddy Perry of Lafayette; godchild Christalyn Hebert of Maurice; and one brother Harold Borel and wife, Bobbi, of New Iberia; nineteen grandchildren; and twenty-five great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons Brennan Foco, Taylor Grisiaffi, Seth Morris, Blaine Morris, Steven Perry, Grant Allain, Elliott Hebert and Michael Hebert Jr. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be grandsons Rorey Foco, Ross Foco, Jeremiah Hebert, Nicholas Hebert, Spencer Hebert and Andre Perry; granddaughters Avril Habetz, Alysse Fontana, Millicent Boudreaux, Sarah Feiler and Camille Perry.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Ava Foco Perry; her parents, James and Inez Perez Borel; brother Emus Borel; three sisters Emily Schexnayder, Geneva Borel and Lynda Hebert; and great grandchild Luke Foco.
Her family will always love her to the moon and back.
