CHS rallies to beat NISH, 3-1

After falling 25-13 in the first set, the Catholic High Lady Panthers rolled off three straight set win to beat New Iberia 13-25, 25-13, 25-16, 25-19 Tuesday in the regular season volleyball opener for both teams.
Madison Bienvenu led the Lady Panthers with 12 kills and nine digs. Hana Maturin added six kills two blocks, Anna Angelle finished with 15 assists, Anna Gonsoulin added five assists, Camille Bonin had 14 digs and two aces and Oakley Guillot and Christina Viator each had two blocks in the win for Catholic High.
Individual statistics for NISH were not provided to The Daily Iberian.
CHS travels to Westgate today and plays host to Highland Baptist Thursday while NISH plays host to Delcambre Thursday.
David Thibodaux 3, Delcambre 2
DELCAMBRE — For the second straight match, Nyhelia Ellis led the way with 10 kills but the Delcambre Lady Panthers couldn’t come up with the win, falling to David Thibodaux Technical 25-16, 25-22, 24-26, 25-14, 15-12.
DHS falls to 0-2 on the season and returns to action Thursday at NISH.
Cheyenne Dunn also had 10 kills and Chloe Hernandez added six kills for Delcambre, which also got 29 assists from Ali Rae Falgout, three aces from Shelby McDonald, four blocks from Hernandez and two blocks from Ellis.

Cecilia 3, Delcambre 2
DELCAMBRE — Nyhelia Ellis and Chloe Hernandez combined for 17 kills but it was Cecilia that came away with the 25-15, 15-25, 18-25, 25-22, 15-13 win over Delcambre Monday in the season opener for both teams.
Ellis added an ace and a block to go with 10 kills while Hernandez had a block and an ace to go with seven kills for the Lady Panthers, who held a 2-1 lead in sets but couldn’t come away with the win.
Lauren Dooley added four kills, Alli Campbell and Riley Hebert each had a kill, Ali Rae Falgout added 20 assists and Jennifer Saunier and Hebert each had two aces in the loss for Delcambre, which played host to David Thibodaux Tuesday and travels to New Iberia Thursday.
ESA 3, Comeaux 0
CADE — Kailie Williams led the way with six kills and three aces while Taylore Louviere and Hailie Williams each had four kills and ESA opened the volleyball regular season with a 27-25, 25-19, 25-22 sweep of Comeaux Monday.
Peyton Stokley added 12 assists and an ace, Madyson McBroom added two aces and 15 digs while Kailie Williams had three aces and Maggie Shuffler had two kills and two aces for the Lady Falcons, who return to action today at home against St. Martinville.
