Members and firefighters from Iberia Parish Fire District No. 1 and the New Iberia Fire Department recently got together to cook, sell and spread the word about a special fundraiser to help IPFD firefighter Seth Champagne, who is suffering from cancer. The fundraising event, which was held Wednesday, too in more than $7,400 for Champagne. More than 700 dinners were sold and money was donated by many people outright. One of organizers, NIFD firefighter Joe Foret, said the fundraiser managed to exceed organizers’ expectations for money collect, dinners sold and “how awesome people can be to rally around someone who needs it.”
