A Home-going celebration will be held for Ms. Amelia “Ms. Mim” Bernard, 80, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Church of Christ, 667 Charles Street, New Iberia, LA 70560 with Bro. Charles Mitchell officiating.

She will await the resurrection in St. Matthew Cemetery in Patoutville.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday at the church 8:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

A native of Patoutville and resident of Lydia, she passed at 11:35 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 2018, at her residence surrounded by her family.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her nephew/son, James S. Bernard of Lydia; four brothers Moses (Ella Mae) Bernard of New Iberia, David (Elouise) Bernard of Jeanerette, Elton Bernard of Lake Charles and Joseph R. (Moraima) Bernard of Orlando, Florida; four sisters Georgia Mae B. Williams, Gertrude B. Hagger and Margaret Bernard all of Lake Charles and Gustina B. (Frank) Lewis of Jeanerette; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Bernard Sr. and Charlotte Jenkins Bernard; four sisters Mary Lee Bernard, Alice B. Alexander, Jessie B. Iford , Virginia B. Bennette; and one brother Andrew Bernard Jr.

Active Pallbearers are Anthony Jones, Warren Archfield Jr., Shaun Davison, Dean Carter, Zachary Charles and Perron Mitchell.

Honorary Pallbearers are James Bernard, Da’Lyon Bernard, Jermaine Antoine Jr., Tyrus Perez, Danny Williamson Sr., Wayne Berry, Aaron Minor Jr., Ja’qualen Antoine and Jermaine Antoine Sr.
