Smitty Delahoussaye

Private services will be held at a later date for Smitty Delahoussaye, 82, who passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018, in New Iberia. 

A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Smitty Delahoussaye was born on November 25, 1935 to the late Chester Delahoussaye and Viola Smith Austin and worked as a bartender most of his life.

Smitty is survived by brothers Willard Austin Jr. of Lafayette, Larry Austin Sr. and wife, Vera, of Lafayette and Carl A. Austin Sr. and wife, Claudette, of New Iberia; and a host of nieces and nephews, including his favorite niece, Viola Theresa Austin Youman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Lucille Fontenette; stepfather, Willard J. Austin Sr.; sisters Delores A. Kately and Viola A. Deyon; brothers Kenneth A. Austin and Lloyd W. Austin Sr.; maternal grandparents, Smitty and Carley Nora Smith; paternal grandfather, George Delahoussaye; aunt Anna Bell Smith Auguster; uncle Julias Auguster; and a cousin Terry Delahoussaye.
