Highland Baptist’s Dusti Abshire place second overall and Westgate’s Caitlin Booker placed third in a cross country meet held Saturday at QSA in Erath.
Four Teche Area athletes placed in the top 10 in the girls’ varsity meet while five placed in the top 10 in the boys’ varsity meet.
St. Thomas More won the girls’ varsity meet with 46 points and Erath placed second with 61 points.
In addition to Abshire and Booker, Westgate’s Ja’Mya Verdun finished eighth and Catholic High’s Layne Boudreaux finished ninth in the girls’ race.
In the boys’ race, Erath finished with four runners in the top 10 — Blaze Bright was fourth, Joel Allen was fifth, Jason LeBlanc was sixth and Jack Richard was seventh.
Delcambre’s Javien Broussard was ninth in the race. Ivan Appleton of St. Louis was the St. Louis boys’ top individual finisher.
Times for the top finishers were not available.
Erath won the boys’ title with 32 points and STM was second with 50 points.
In the middle school meet, Erath won the girls’ event with 27 points and Highland Baptist was second with 30 points.
Fatima’s Angelle Dupuis won the individual title with Highland’s Maegan Champagne in second place and Catholic High’s Madalynn Salsman third.
Delcambre’s Ava Duhon was fourth, Erath’s Emma Richard was fifth and EHS teammate Makayla Vice was eighth, and Highland’s Samantha Taylor finished in fifth place.
In the middle school boys’s race, Erath won with 32 points and Delcambre finished second with 65 points.
Erath’s Dax Boudreaux won the individual meet with teammates Jayton Stutes in third, Owen Stutes in fifth and Nathan Hardin in sixth place.
Delcambre’s Aivery Dejean finished second with teammate Parker LeBlanc in fourth. Highland Baptist’s Tyler Blissett was eighth and teammate Garrett Barras was 10th.
ESA
On the Battlefield cross country course Saturday, the ESA Lady Falcons place four runners in the top 15 for a second-place finish while the boys had one runner in the top 20 and finished in fourth place overall.
For the girls, Aline Malik was fourth, Samantha Withers was seventh, Madeline Breaux was 11th and Taylor Guillotte was 13th. Piper Leger finished 38th for ESA to round out the scoring while Ava Grace Hebert and Arden Frantzen also ran.
In the boys’ race, Oliver Nickel finished 17th, Jackson Spoon was 27th, Christian Herpin was 35th, Sloane Brasseaux was 56th and William Lemoine rounded out the scoring with an 85th place finish. ESA’s Greer Hernandez and Charlie Blanchard ran but did not count for a score.
