Funeral services for Mrs. Ella Bernard, 71, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2018, at Journet & Bolden Funeral Home, 711 S. Corinne Street, New Iberia. Brother Joseph L. Bernard will officiate services.

Interment will follow in St. Matthew Cemetery in Patoutville.

Visitation will be observed from 8 a.m. until time of service. A native of Loreauville and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Bernard died on Sunday, September 23, 2018, at 8:30 a.m. at Iberia Extended Care Hospital following a lengthy illness.

She leaves in God’s care: her husband, Moses Bernard Sr.; three sons Moses Bernard Jr., Charles Bernard (Lynette) and Andrew Bernard all of New Iberia; two step-sons Joseph Mitchell of New Iberia and Joseph Gray of Boise, Idaho; seven daughters Gathir Lewis (Kennel), Lisa Lively (Anthony), Linda Bernard (Elwin), Emily Narcisse (Curtis), Mary Wilson (Ray), Kelly Bernard (Jeremy) and Charlotte Bernard (Louis) all of New Iberia; three special daughters Kimberly Bernard of Charenton, Ionthia Bernard Sparrow of Jeanerette and Charlicia Bernard of New Iberia; two special sons Tre’Vonce Bernard and Tre’Vonta Bernard of New Iberia; one sister Mary Ella Sereal; one special sister Elouise Sereal; one special friend Rose Mary “Momma Rose” J. Lewis; and one god-child Cayson Bernard all of New Iberia; 44 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Junius Sereal and Eunice Sereal; one daughter Angela Ann Bernard; two granddaughters Quintelle Bernard and Briley Gray; three brothers Paul Nora, Whitney Sereal and Alvin Sereal; one sister Mary Sereal Mitchell; one son in-law Rickey Lewis; two special nephews Joseph Mitchell and Edward Sereal.

The active pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be family and friends.
