Funeral services were held for New Iberia native Audrey Mae Jones Tysinger on September 22, 2018, at New Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Highland Park, Michigan.
Audrey Mae Jones Tysinger was born June 8, 1942, in New Iberia to the late Paulfrey “Papooh” Jones and Lillian Allen Jones. She graduated from Jonas Henderson High School and attended USL. She received a bachelor’s degree in Technology.
Audrey Mae was baptized at an early age at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, under the leadership of her uncle Pastor H. M. Jones. She later moved to Detroit, Michigan where she married Brady Tysinger. After moving to Detroit, she found a new church home at New Mt. Moriah Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her death.
Upon retiring in 2001, Audrey Mae spoiled her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They even had a special name for her, “Granny” and “Grand-Grand.” She loved to knit, play chess, travel and watch game shows.
Audrey Mae was the first lady of the Lucky Few Motorcycle Club. She was called “Lady T.” She was well known and loved by everyone in the motorcycle world.
She leaves to cherish her memories her four daughters Machell, Lillian, Audrey and Pamela Tysinger and one son Brady Tysinger Jr., all of Detroit, Michigan; her siblings Juanita Jones Card of Detroit, Michigan, Clarence “C.W.” Jones of Lake Charles, Shelton Jones of New Iberia, Kevin Gardner of Houma and Kenneth “Red” (Theresa) Gardner of St. Martinville; stepsisters Leona Boutte of New York, Maggie Bell Boutte, Jerrie Jacobs and Agnes Lee, all of New Iberia; stepbrothers Lloyd Lee of Detroit, Michigan, Gus Lee of New Orleans and Eric Lee of Woodbridge, Virginia; twenty grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; three godchildren Sheena, Sherry and Ykeita; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Brady Tysinger Sr.; parents, Paulfrey “Papooh” and Lillian Allen Jones; stepmother Nettie Fontenette Lee Jones; sister Mary Alice Jones Johnson; brothers Jonathan Jones and Paulfred Jones Jr.; stepsisters Linda Lee Jones and Fritella Lee; and brother-in-law Silas Card.
