Thursday night’s District 7-2A contest between Catholic High and West St. Mary, originally scheduled to be played at WSM, has been moved to Catholic High, according to West St. Mary head football coach Cliff Armelin.

Armelin said that the recent rainy weather has left the football field at WSM soggy and unplayable. The WSM coach added that maintenance crews have not been able to mow the playing surface for more than a week due to the wet conditions.

According to the WSM coach, West St. Mary will still be the home team for the Thursday night contest.

CHS head football coach Brent Indest added that the two teams will split the gate for the game, which will make up one home game that the Panthers lost earlier in the season when the St. Louis game was moved to Teurlings due to the new track around the field at Catholic High not being complete.

“Basically they will wear home jerseys but everything else will be like a home game for us,” Indest said. “I’m really happy to help.

“Our home field is not in great shape but after talking to them it seems to be in a lot better shape than theirs. We’re all in this together as high school football teams and we worked it all out.”

Indest said that for the CHS fans it will be just like a home game where all cards, prepaid tickets or reserved seating will be honored.

Catholic High enters the game with a 4-1 record and is 1-0 in district while WSM is 1-4 and 1-1.
