Don Paul Bourgeois

Mr. Don Paul Bourgeois passed away on Friday, September 28, 2018. He was born December 9, 1934, in Raceland.

Upon high school graduation he joined the United States Army and was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany until 1957. He returned to Raceland and taught school at Raceland High School. In 1961, Mr. Bourgeois continued his education at the University of Southwestern Louisiana and in 1968 received his Masters of Art Degree. In 1970, he earned an Educational Specialist degree, followed by a position of Assistant Principal at Northside High School in Lafayette then Principal at Lafayette High School. In 1973, he became Principal at Carencro High School until his retirement in 1989. In 1989, Mr. Bourgeois received the Honor of Excellence in Washington, DC and was then selected to work for the Louisiana State Department of Education in Baton Rouge with the Professional Development Center which focused on Quality Education.

Mr. Bourgeois is survived by his sister Patricia B. Angelette Garret; his partner in life Sally Ruth Hebert; and his dog Thor.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mildred Falgout and Roy J. Bourgeois; one brother Roy Mercel Bourgeois.
