Theresa C. Stelly

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 18, 2018, at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial in St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church for Theresa C. Stelly, age 96, the former Theresa Courville, who passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018, at Cornerstone Village South Nursing Home in Lafayette.

Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Grand Coteau. 

Mrs. Stelly was a native of Sunset and lived most of her life in Weeks Island. She worked as a Cosmetologist for many years in her spare time and volunteered for over thirty years as a pink lady for Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia. She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling and dancing with her husband of over fifty years. She worked tirelessly as a devoted and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all who knew her. We loved her dearly and her memory will be with us always. 

Survivors include one son Nelson Patrick Stelly and his wife, Gerie, of Jeanerette; two daughters Paulette Stelly Newman and her husband, Ganer, of Arnaudville and Sharon Stelly Henry and her husband, Robert, of Lafayette; one sister in-law the former Delores Fontenot of Franklin; twelve grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-seven years, Nelson Paul Stelly; her parents, Alphonse Courville and the former Elsie Boudreaux; one brother Leray Courville; and one sister Georgia Courville Collins. 

A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday and will continue from 8 a.m. until service time on Thursday.

Pallbearers will be Brian Henry, William Henry, Isaac Henry, Ben Hoffpauir, Steve Hoffpauir and Christopher Armentor.

Honorary pallbearer will be Ryan Derouen.
