BATON ROUGE — The pile of weekly awards just keeps getting higher for Cole Tracy.

For the second straight week and fourth time this season, LSU’s star kicker has been named Southeastern Conference Special Teams Player of the Week. In Saturday’s 19-6 win over then-No. 22 Mississippi State, Tracy accounted for 13 of the team’s points as he went 4-of-4 with field goals and also made his extra point attempt.

Tracy has made 12 straight field goals, leads the nation with 21 field goals, and is lone misses this season are outside of 50 yards with a pair of 53-yard attempts against Auburn and Ole Miss. Tracy, who is seven field goals shy of tying the Tigers’ single-season record, tied a school record of five field goals in a game the week before against Georgia.

Tracy wasn’t the only Tiger to earn SEC honors Monday.

Safety Grant Delpit was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week after recording 10 tackles and two interceptions in the victory on Saturday. Earlier last week, Delpit also was named to The Associated Press Mid-Season All-America Team.

Delpit joins linebackers Devin White and Jacob Phillips as Tigers who have earned SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors. Quarterback Joe Burrow is the lone Tiger to earn SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Primetime on Nov. 3

When Alabama comes to town, it will once again be under the bright lights of Tiger Stadium.

The SEC announced Monday that the Nov. 3 matchup between No. 1 Alabama (8-0, 5-0 SEC) at No. 4 LSU (7-1, 4-1 SEC) will be televised at 7 p.m. and broadcast on CBS.

This will mark the eighth straight year that the network has featured the rivalry game in primetime.

LSU will be looking to defeat Alabama for the first time since the 9-6 overtime win in Tuscaloosa back in 2011. Since that defeat, the Crimson Tide have won seven straight games against the Tigers.

Poll position

A day after climbing one spot in both The Associated Press Top 25 Poll, and the Amway USA Today Coaches Poll, LSU also rose in another poll on Monday.

The Tigers went from No. 5 to No. 4 in the Football Writers Association of America-National Football Foundation Super 16 Poll. LSU even received one first-place vote.

In the Super 16, the SEC has six of the 16 teams, with four of them ranked in the Top 10 with No. 1 Alabama, No. 4 LSU, No. 7 Georgia, No. 10 Florida, No. 12 Kentucky and No. 16 Texas A.M.

Tracy named Groza star

In addition to his fourth SEC weekly honor, Tracy also was named one of the Lou Groza Award’s “Stars of the Week” for the fourth time this season.

Tracy kicked four field goals (25, 38, 29, 40 yards) in the win over Mississippi State. Tracy previously earned the honors following the games against Miami, Auburn and Georgia.
