Funeral services for Bernadine L. Perry, 82, will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at St. Edward Catholic Church, 175 Ambassador W. Lemell Drive in New Iberia. Father Thomas Vu celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Edward Catholic Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be observed from 8 a.m. until time of services at Journet & Bolden Funeral Home, 711 S. Corinne Street in New Iberia, with a Rosary to be recited at 9 a.m.

A native of New Iberia and a resident of Texas City, Texas, Ms. Perry passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at her residence surrounded by family and friends. She had a caring heart and a sparkly personality that intrigued everyone around her. She became a resident of Texas City, Texas for 46 years after her husband Fred retired from the U.S. Army.

She leaves to cherish fond memories, two sons Fred Perry Jr. of New Iberia and James Perry Sr. (Naomi) of Patterson; four daughters Lucille McGaskey, Emma Stanley, JoAnn Williams (Ora Lee) all of Texas City, Texas, Freda Bell (Reginald) of LaMarque, Texas; a very special daughter/niece Pauline August of New Iberia; two brothers Tilden LeMelle (Margaret) of New Rochelle, New York and Johnny Lemelle of Vallejo, California; one sister/friend Mrs. Adline H. Smith of Texas City, Texas; and a devoted military wife/friend Mrs. Rean Ozan of Raywood, Texas; two grandchildren that she raised, Maurice Perry and Kyna Perry both of Texas City, Texas; 19 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elloi LeMelle and Therese Francis-LeMelle; her husband, Fred D. Perry Sr.; several siblings; her granddaughter Kalie Perry; her daughter in-law Anna Perry, and two son in-laws C.L. Williams Jr. and Howard Stanley.

The active pallbearers will be Maurice Perry, Frank Perry, Eloi Perry, Paul Perry, C.L. Williams III and James Perry Jr.

The honorary pallbearers will be Tilden LeMelle, Johnny LeMelle, Albert Perry, Reginald Bell, Frederick Rogers, Ora Lee Timmons, Fred Perry Jr., James Perry Sr. and Dwayne Stanley.
