Charlane Y. Colbert

A Home-going celebration will be held for Mrs. Charlane Y. Colbert, 69, the former Charlane Yarber, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Allen R. Randle Sr., Pastor officiating.

Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum at Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday at the church 8 a.m. until the time of the service.

A resident of New Iberia, she passed away at 9:38 a.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at her residence.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 50 years, Claude Colbert Sr. of New Iberia; one daughter Claudia Colbert of Houston, Texas; four sons Claude Colbert Jr. of Lafayette, Mark Colbert and Donald Colbert of New Iberia and Robert Colbert Sr. (Kenyatta) of Youngsville; three brothers Emmanuel Yarber (Julie) of Grand Marias, Eddie Yarber of New Orleans and Burton Welch of Lafayette; two sisters Phoebe Hurst (Lester) of Pensacola, Florida and Ethel Yarber-Carter (Rickey) of Baldwin; one sister in-law Rebecca Colbert of Lafayette; one brother in-law Robert Lancelin Sr. of Baldwin; two god-children Jorick Latula and Anita Jack Rochelle of New Iberia; two aunts Shirley Harris and Rose McCurtis of Franklin; 38 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Yarber and Lucy Mae Robertson Yarber; one son Marlon Charles Colbert Sr.; two brothers Charlie Yarber Jr. and Andrew Yarber; two sisters Lucy Mae Lancelin and Josephine Polite; and a god-sister Rose Jack.

Active Pallbearers are Lester Hurst Jr., Courtney Yarber, Durelle Nathan, Reginald Allen, George Alexander and Rodney Jack.

Honorary pallbearers are Emmanuel Yarber, Eddie Yarber, Burton Welch, Mark Colbert, Melvin Lancelin, Jorick Latula, Chris Tillman, Jared Butler, Brian Latula, Jason Latula, Robert Colbert Jr., Robert Lancelin Jr., Tyler Jackson, Jacoby Frick, Ramon Paul, Rahmaud Paul and Donald Colbert Jr.
