JOIN THE NEW IBERIA KIWANIS and choose one of the Pancake Supper committees that start organizing in June under the direction of the president-elect the year before they take office.

FOLLOW YEARS OF INSTRUCTION from committee chairman in charge of ordering food supplies, cleaning and testing grills and warmers before the event, coordinating with the New Iberia Recreation Department for use of the Cyr-Gates Community Center and memorize the manuel passed down from past presidents to newly elected future presidents.

REVIEW DUTIES of many necessary volunteers and instructions for the new class of high school Key Club members who will assist with the assembly line to pack plates for the 70+ percent pickup orders.

ORDER TICKETS and have ready to distribute in a timely manner so members will have an opportunity to sell their allotment before the event.

PURCHASE SUPPLIES based on the best guess from previous year ticket sales, advance and at the door payments.

SETUP GRILLS AND TEST WARMERS to insure no repairs are needed, or get them repaired

COVER THE CENTER’S FLOORS with multiple layers of fireretardent, safety and cleanup protection 

MOVE-IN days before cooking begins by hauling by truck all of the massive grills, warmers and tools necessary to cook the pancakes. 

SETUP and TEST the gas lines and grills to make sure they are hooked up properly and ready for more than 12-hours of cooking.

START COOKING the sausage at 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. Thursday morning of the supper, Nov. 15, 2018. 

CLEAN AND OIL THE GRILLS before starting to cook the pancakes.

BLEND BUCKETS OF BATTER donated each year in pallets by the national office of Pioneer Brand Pancake mix. Pour into measuring pots for the grill cooks. who with experience have learned to flip to perfection, how to keep them warm and moist and continue to come off the grill for more than eight hours. 

COOK, STACK, PACK & SERVE pancakes with butter packets, syrup, sausage, milk or coffee and wait for the ticket holder to stop in to eat or take home for supper.

CLEANUP, HAUL AWAY AND STORE everything that’s needed for next year’s Pancake Supper — repeat to benefit Teche Area children.
