A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted for Mrs. Ollay Romero, the former Cecile Bernard, 90, at 2 p.m. Friday, 2018, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Fr. Korey Lavergne officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. The funeral home will reopen at 8 a.m. on Friday until service time.
A native of Delcambre and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Romero passed away at 5:03 a.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at her daughter’s residence.
Mrs. Romero was a dietary aid in the hospital industry for many years. She was a very faithful woman of God who went to church daily. She enjoyed working in her garden and her daily walks. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughters Barbara Landry and Geraldine Dugan and husband, Gary, all of New Iberia; eight grandchildren Barbara Langlinais and husband, Mark, Joanna Landry, Lillie Vincent and husband, David, Michael Landry Jr. and wife Carla, Lisa Landry, Kenneth Landry, Seth Fruge and Stephen Fruge; 20 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren; one brother Gilbert Bernard of New Iberia; and two sisters Mary Lou Romero and husband, Leo, of New Iberia and Earline Denais of Maurice.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ollay Romero; parents, Leopold and Ada Reaux Bernard; two sisters Victoria Bourque and Mae Blanchard; and four brothers Neo, Albert, Paul and Hypolite Bernard.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Fruge, Michael Landry Jr., Kenneth Landry, Bryson Landry, Brennon Landry and Keyon Joseph. Seth Fruge and Ryan Hebert will be honorary pallbearers.
