Raven Louise Schexnayder and Nicolas John Domingues were united in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Jeanerette on October 12, 2018, at six o’clock in the evening.
The bride is the daughter of Rodney and Virginia Dooley Schexnayder of Jeanerette. The bride’s maternal grandparents are the late Virgis Dooely and the late Dora Coonie Landry formerly of Jeanerette. Her paternal grandparents are the late Robert and Emily Borel Schexnayder formerly of Jeanerette.
The groom is the son of Roland and Madeline Bienek Domingues of New Iberia. His maternal grandparents are Gilbert and Mary Bienek of New Iberia. His paternal grandparents are Roland and Judy Domingues of Broussard.
The Nuptial Mass was officiated by Father Jody Simoneaux.
Given in marriage and escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory-colored form fitting gown. The sheath silhouette featured a unique Bohemian textured lace which covered a layer of ivory-colored jersey. The sweetheart neckline and spaghetti straps followed into an illusion scooped back featuring crystal buttons over the zippered enclosure. The gown was enhanced with a chapel train that trailed weightlessly behind. She wore a lengthy double tiered finger veil that flowed gently as she was escorted to the altar.
The bride carried a whimsical bouquet featuring a mixture of soft white roses, ranunculus, thistle, silver dollar eucalyptus and succulents, all hand tied and wrapped with pearl pinned cotton ribbon.
The bride was attended on the altar by her maid of honor Taryn Schexnayder, cousin of the bride. In procession were matron of honor Maxine Bourgeois Jarreu; maids of honor Courtney Robichaux and Amanda Voorhies, friends of the bride; and bridesmaids Madison Domingues, sister of the groom, Ashton Gaither, Sara Gibson, Danielle Mestayer and Katharine Shepard, friends of the bride. Serving as flower girls were Emma Claire Bonin, cousin of the bride and Avery Coughlin, godchild of the bride.
The groom was attended on the altar by best man Chase Domingues, brother of the groom. In procession were best man Thomas Robin, friend of the groom and groomsmen David Domingues, cousin of the groom, Thomas Theriot, Tanner Kuykendall, Jacob Rogers, Issac Frederick Micah Steiner and Joel Dempsey, all friends of the bride and groom. Serving as ring bearer was Gage Boudreaux, cousin of the bride.
Ushers were Paul Cyr, cousin of the bride and Adam Mannina, friend of the groom.
Church greeters were Emily Bienek, cousin of the groom, Emma Haecker, cousin of the groom and Ashley Mannina, friend of the groom. Serving as scripture readers were Leah Bienek Haecker, godmother of the groom and Cassie Theriot, friend of the bride. Gift bearers were Dawn Norris, aunt of the groom and Megan Sonnier, cousin of the bride. Eucharistic Ministers were Virginia Schexnayder, mother of the bride, Gerry Cormier, cousin of the bride and Lisa Freyou, friend of the groom.
Following the ceremony, the parents of the bride and groom hosted a reception at Warehouse 535 in Lafayette with entertainment by Louisiana Red Band and Dirk Guidry Art Studio.
On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents honored Nicolas and Raven with a rehearsal dinner at Cooper Street in Jeanerette. The morning following the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a brunch at The French Press in Lafayette.
After a honeymoon getaway to Nayara Springs, Costa Rica, the bride and groom will reside in Lafayette.
The bride is currently employed as a registered nurse by Lafayette General Orthopaedic Hospital. The groom is currently employed as Field Service Engineer for Beckman Coulter.
