- Two suspects face drug charges after stopped by the NIPD
New Iberia Police arrested two men Tuesday on drug charges after narcotics agents say they were found in possession of marijuana near the downtown area.
Grant Davis, 22, was arrested on the charges of possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I controlled dangerous substance, illegal carrying of a firearm, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance and obstructing a public passage.
Jake Henry, 21, was charged with obstructing a public passage and possession of a Schedule I controlled dangerous substance.
According to police reports, the men standing in the roadway in the area of Charles Street and Lee Street. During the investigation, Davis was found to be in possession of a firearm and suspected marijuana individually packaged for distribution. Henry was also found to have suspected marijuana in his possession.
Both men were booked into the Iberia Parish Jail.
