The New Iberia Police Department seized a pound of marijuana and a handgun Tuesday following a tip. 

Shortly before noon Tuesday, patrol officers followed up on information at a residence on Pelican Street in reference to an abandoned vehicle containing illegal narcotics. 

Officers recovered close to one pound of suspected marijuana and a handgun. The investigation is continuing and all evidence will be sent to the Crime Lab for analysis.
