Dallas Etienne Bodin Jr., also known as “Buddy,” was born on December 31, 1963, with twin sister Denise Bodin, to parents Dallas E. Bodin Sr. and Nola Armentor Bodin. He attended New Iberia Senior High School and graduated class of 1981. Soon after high school Dallas found his love of cooking, which he earned from his mother. He later started cooking for Peltier Catering, A la Carte Catering and worked for Global X-ray and Testing Corporation, until finally beginning his own business in the early 2000’s, Dallas Floral Designs in Broussard. From then on, he began donating his time and expertise to the many churches in the Acadiana area such as, Our Lady of Perpetual Help in New Iberia, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Broussard, Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Lafayette and St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Abbeville. Buddy was also trusted for many years decorating the St. Jude Dream Home. Where ever Dallas displayed his work people noticed his undeniable talent.

Dallas especially loved to make bouquets and decorating for weddings. He had an eye for making a beautiful bridal bouquet that would adorn any bride. He enjoyed cooking in his spare time, finding new and old recipes that have been passed down through the family. Dallas also liked to explore the genealogy of his family, even visiting old cemeteries to see where his ancestors were buried. If anyone in the family wanted to know about their ancestry you could ask Buddy. With having such an abundance of siblings came many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, which he enjoyed spending time with and watching them grow.

Although, Dallas has left his family and friends to decorate the heavens, all can be reminded of him when they look at what remains. Throughout his life he displayed his art in many forms, with his smile, outgoing personality and most importantly his beautiful, over the top floral arrangements that could make anyone smile. Buddy will be missed by many, as he had such a large family and many close friends.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin and Castille’s Southside location on Friday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will continue on Saturday from 8 a.m. until time of services.

A Rosary will be prayed on Friday, November 30, 2018, at 7 p.m. in Martin and Castille Funeral Home.
