Shirley Josephine Frioux

Shirley Josephine Guarino Frioux, age 86, passed away peacefully at home October 18, 2018, in Norman, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at Holy Family Cemetery, 2807 Curtis Lane, in New Iberia.

Shirley was born January 19, 1932, to Anthony and Lena Larriviere Guarino in Abbeville. Shirley married Victor Joseph Frioux Jr. on June 8, 1952. Following the death of her beloved husband Victor in 1982, she worked in the retail industry until her retirement at age 75. Shirley moved to Norman, Oklahoma, in March 2017 to live with her son Chuck and his wife, Toni. Shirley was a long-time member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia. She was an accomplished seamstress, wife, mother and grandmother.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Lena Larriviere Guarino of Abbeville; husband, Victor Joseph Frioux Jr. of New Iberia; and brother Walter A. Guarino of New Orleans.

Survivors include one brother, Roland “Mac” G. Guarino and wife, Nedia “Taunt,” of Abbeville; her children Jody Ann Frioux Verwers and fiancé, Brian Muths, of Houston, Chuck Anthony Frioux and wife, Toni, of Norman, Oklahoma, and Kitty Marie Frioux Comeaux and husband, Bob, of Firestone, Colorado; and grandchildren Robert A. Verwers III and wife, Brittany, Michelle E. Verwers Jones and husband, Matt, Christopher A. Frioux and wife, Carrie, Joshua M. Frioux and fiancé, Hillary Farris, Benjamin J. Comeaux and fiancé, Aaren Sinor, Matt R. Comeaux and wife, Jamie, Andrew F. Comeaux and wife, Sabrina, and Alex A. Comeaux.

Shirley was also blessed with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and family. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her.
