A celebration of life gathering will be held for Joseph Wilson Matt Gonsoulin, 69, on Thursday, December 20, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A Rosary led by the Men’s Rosary Group will be prayed at 11 a.m. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
A native and resident of New Iberia, Joseph passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018, at his residence.
Born on February 3, 1949, to the late Claude and Beatrice Matt Gonsoulin, Joseph was one of three children. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend to all those who knew him.
Joseph worked as a chef for many years, cooking in restaurants all over Colorado, New Jersey and Louisiana. He proudly owned and operated Café Jenee here in New Iberia for many years. Joseph enjoyed traveling, music and bird watching. He will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his daughter Jenee Gonsoulin Aucoin and husband Brett of Humble, Texas; grandchildren Aubrey and Alexis Aucoin; and sister Genevieve Julie Gonsoulin Guidry of Youngsville.
He was preceded in death by his son Joshua Gonsoulin; parents, Claude and Beatrice Matt Gonsoulin; brother Claude Gonsoulin; and the mother of their daughter, Jenny Hebert Gonsoulin.
