Under the lead of fiddler and Lost Bayou Rambler co-founder Louis Michot, Michot’s Melody Makers’ debut album “Blood Moon” blends traditional Cajun sounds with that contemporary boundary-bending style. The album listens like a history of Cajun music, from classic Louisiana fiddle tunes to sounds from before the introduction of the accordion and finally to today’s embracement of drums and amplifiers.

Climb aboard for another trip to the happy island home of Queen Ida Peacock, Tin Toy Hare and Sir Galatoire Gator. The second volume in a three-part series, In the Time of Shimmer and Light is a heartwarming fable about friendship, creativity, and problem-solving. New Iberia’s own artist, author/illustrator, and art teacher Paul Schexnayder beautifully crafts this imaginary world, where young readers find that a coveted shiny object can be both the cause of, and the cure for, their island’s gloom.
