The visit was made possible by the Coca-Cola company. Key account manager for Coca-Cola Keith Barrilleaux said the company visits different retailers and sets up the Coca-Cola truck until Saturday, bringing along Santa and providing the opportunity for parents to take pictures.
Barrilleaux said there were also some stuffed polar bear giveaways as well as food that was handed out to those visiting Shawn’s Thursday.
“We also have a bigger truck that stores at bigger parking lots,” Barrilleaux said. “It’s really just pictures with Santa.”
Adele Sigur, the wife of owner Shawn Sigur, said the store participated the first year that Coca-Cola began its Santa visits, and the event has always been a hit in Delcambre thanks to the power of social media.
Santa himself was stationed at the bottom of the stairs at the grocery store, where a small line was formed until 6:30 p.m. full of happy children waiting for their turn with Santa. Up the staircase, owner Shawn Sigur was distributing hot dogs while patrons of the grocery store mingled in the front of the building.
This year, the Coca-Cola Santa truck also visited Jeanerette, Youngsville, Arnaudville, Maurice, Baldwin, Scott, Opelousas and Rayne, along with the Delcambre visit.
