Highland Baptist boys and girls fall in consolation finals of VC Yuletide Tourney

 ABBEVILLE — E.J. Williams had 21 points as Marksville crushed Highland Baptist 59-28 Saturday in the Consolation finals of the Vermilion Catholic Yuletide Tournament.

Ian Lee added 11 points for Marksville (4-15), which jumped out to a 15-2 first quarter lead and coasted to the win.

Michael Hoke and Myles Liggans each had six points for Highland (6-6) which plays host to Runnels Thursday.

Highland Baptist 46

ABBEVILLE — Alyia Broussard had 20 points and Je’ Johnnie added 14 as Kaplan beat Highland Baptist 56-47 in the girls consolation finals of the Yuletide Saturday.

Marin Barras led HBCS with 18 points as the Lady Bears only trailed by three at halftime but Kaplan (12-8) pulled away in the second half for the win.

Highland (9-3) plays host to St. Joseph’s Friday.

Erath 67,

Covenant Christian 53

ABBEVILLE — Tucker Derise had a game-high 23 points as Erath beat Covenant Christian 67-53 in the seventh place game at the VC Yuletide Tournament Saturday.

Andrew Evans had 13 points and William LeBlanc added 12 for the Bobcats.
