Spencer, who played four years in the CFL — two with the Toronto Argonauts and the last two with Ottawa — had 1,007 yards receiving and seven touchdowns in 17 games in 2018 and had 3,137 yards and 19 touchdowns on 259 catches in his four years in the CFL.

He played in the Grey Cup Championship for the RedBlacks last season and set a CFL record with 496 all-purpose yards in a 41-36 Ottawa win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

It broke the previous record by 474 yards and was only the sixth time in CFL history that any individual player had more than 400 yards of offense.

Spencer was set to become a CFL free-agent next month.
