A Mass of Christian burial will be held for Mr. Joseph Alton Rochon Sr., 90, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at St. Edward Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas James, S.V.D., celebrant.
Entombment will follow in St. Edward Roman Catholic Church Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday at Fletcher Funeral Home 7:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 9 a.m., followed by a moment for tributes.
Joseph was a member of St. Edward Roman Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Peter Claver Council No. 63. Due to his love for his country, he enlisted and served in the United States Army during the Korean War, which resulted in an honorable discharge.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Mrs. Rose Mary Davis Rochon of Olivier; one son, Joseph Alton Rochon Jr. (Jackie) of Tacoma, Washington; four daughters, Rose Mary Rochon of Olivier, Debra Boutte (Emmanuel) of Houston, Elaine Butler (Donald) of Tacoma, Washington, and Kathryn Rochon of Hopewell, New Jersey; many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph C. Rochon and Virginia Castillo Rochon; one son, Randolph John (Big-John) Rochon Sr; three sisters, Elsie Rochon Jones, Lounetta Rochon Berry and Phyllis Diane Hill; and three brothers, Sylvester Rochon, Robert Rochon Sr. and Bernard Rochon.
Active pallbearers are Steven Rochon, Barry Jones, James Auzenne, Alvin Moore and members of the Knights of Peter Claver Council No. 63.
Honorary pallbearers are Trevor Mitchell, Randolph Rochon Jr., Randall Rochon, Kevin Boutte, Jonathan Butler and Emmanuel Boutte.
