Homeless shelter needing initiative volunteers

The Iberia Homeless Shelter is seeking volunteers to assist with its annual Point in Time homeless census.
The initiative is conducted every year across Acadiana to gouge the number of local homeless in the area. Beginning at 6 a.m. on the morning of Jan. 29, outreach teams of volunteers throughout Acadiana will conduct surveys to determine the number of people who are experiencing homelessness on the night of Jan. 28.
Local residents 18 and over who are interested in volunteering for this important and rewarding task must attend a training session on Sunday between 2 and 3 p.m. The training will be held at Hospice of Acadiana in Lafayette, 2600 Johnston St. Lafayette (Hospice of Acadiana).
Volunteers must be available to assist for at least one of the following shifts:
n Jan. 29 (6 a.m.-9 a.m.)
nJan. 29 (10 a.m.-1 p.m.)
nJan. 30 (6 a.m.-9 a.m.)
nJan. 30 (10 a.m.-1 p.m.)
nJan. 31 (6 a.m.-9 a.m.)
nJan. 31 (10 a.m.-1 p.m.)
Attendance at the training is not a commitment to volunteer. Anyone interested in more information is welcome.
