Lady Panthers make it three straight wins

After consecutive losses to Delcambre and Ascension Episcopal put their chances of repeating as District 7-2A champions in jeopardy, the Catholic High Lady Panthers have rebounded nicely with three straight wins, including Tuesday’s 50-16 district win over Jeanerette, to move to 9-2 in district and 14-9 overall as they chase district leader Delcambre over the final two weeks of the regular season.

Madison Bienvenu had a game-high 23 points and outscored the entire Jeanerette team as the Lady Panthers fought off a sluggish start and outscored the Lady Tigers 20-5 in the second quarter to pull away and cruise to the 34 point win.
Lauren Bonin added 15 points, including four 3-pointers, and Zy’Rien Green finished with four points for CHS.
Tionne Williams led Jeanerette (7-12, 6-5) with 11 points while Asia Ayro added three points for the Lady Tigers.
Catholic High plays host to West St. Mary Friday while Jeanerette plays host to Ascension Episcopal.
Franklin 55, Loreauville 35
LOREAUVILLE — Rontrinia Hawkins led the way with 14 points as Franklin bolted out to a big lead and coasted to a 55-35 District 7-2A win over Loreauville Tuesday.

Irulan Toussaint and Aasliyah Smith each added eight points for the Lady Hornets (12-14, 9-3) jumped out to a 13-1 first quarter lead and never looked back.
Trinity Thomas led LHS (1-22, 1-10) with 20 points.
Franklin plays host to Delcambre Friday, Loreauville plays host to the Academy of the Sacred Heart-Grand Coteau

Catholic High 61
Jared Drexler led four Jeanerette players in double-figures as the Tigers beat Catholic High 66-61 in overtime Tuesday in District 7-2A.
Drexler had 17 points, Toddrick Paul added 14 while Taylor Tallmore and Dyvondrick Hurst each had 12 for Jeanerette, which trailed 13-8 after the first quarter and rallied to tie the game and force the extra period, where it outscored CHS 11-6 for the win.
Kolbe Chretien led Catholic High with 20 points while Javien Willis had 16 points and Trey Amos finished with 10 points.
Jeanerette (12-11, 6-2) plays host to Ascension Episcopal Friday while Catholic High (15-12, 3-4) plays host to WSM.
