Seven Teche Area girls’ teams make basketball playoffs

The LHSAA released its playoff brackets for girls basketball on Monday and a total of seven teams from across the Teche Area earned berths. 

Four of the seven schools will be taking part in the non-select playoffs and all four will be on the road for the opening round. In Class 5A, No. 28 New Iberia Senior HIgh travels in the first round to play No. 5 East Ascension. In Class 2A, No. 32 Jeanerette will play at No. 1 Doyle, No. 20 Delcambre travels to No. 13 St. Helena College & Career Academy, and No. 26 Franklin heads down to No. 7 Amite.

The select playoffs will feature a pair of local teams opening up the playoffs at home.In Division III, after a first-round bye, No. 7 Catholic High will host No. 10 St. Mary’s Academy. In Division IV, No. 11 Hanson Memorial hosts No. 22 Hamilton Christian in the first round while No. 9 Highland Baptists heads out to face No. 8 Central Catholic.
