New Iberia man arrested on litany of drug charges

A New Iberia man was arrested on a litany of drug charges Friday by the New Iberia Police Department. 

According to the NIPD, the Criminal Investigations Division conducted an investigation after obtaining a search warrant looking into drug activity at Iberia Village Apartments Friday. 

Among the things NIPD said were seized were items used in preparing and packing narcotics for distribution; a firearm (found to have been reported stolen through another agency); approximately 7.8 ounces of suspected synthetic marijuana; approximately 75 suspected MDMA pills; suspected marijuana; suspected crystal meth; suspected crack cocaine; various types of legend drugs and U.S. currency.

Kendall Vital was arrested and booked into the Iberia Parish Jail on the charges of possession with intent to distribute a schedule I CDS (greater than 200 grams); possession with intent to distribute a schedule II CDS (two counts); possession of a firearm by convicted felon; possession of a firearm in the presence of a CDS; illegal possession of a stolen firearm; possession of a CDS in the presence of a person under 17 (two counts); transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of a CDS in a school zone.

Vital also had outstanding warrants with Breaux Bridge Police Department, Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Department of Public Safety (Probation and Parole).

The police statement said it is an ongoing investigation and more arrests are expected to be made.
