- Interim Acadiana Regional Airport Director Mike Tarantino listens at the Iberia Parish Airport Authority meeting Tuesday.
The Iberia Parish Airport Authority voted to create a new lease for hangar rentals at LeMaire Memorial Airport at Tuesday’s meeting.
The agenda item, which legal counsel Dean Wattigny said had been discussed for many months, is an attempt to comply with state law regarding bidding.
“This is an item we’ve been discussing for a while. As you know we need to comply with state law for public bids on LeMaire hangars,” Wattigny said.
Wattigny said the last action taken was to get an opinion on the fair market value of the hangars. As of Dec. 1, the opinion said hangars 3 through 313 should be priced at about $275 per month and and $325 per month for hangars 1 and 2.
“In considering that and reviewing our leases that were yearly and month to month, we submitted a revised lease and we’re suggesting that you bid those hangars at minimum rentals,” Wattigny said.
The new lease one have a minimum length of one year, and if a bid came in higher than the base price it would still be accepted.
In addition to the rental price, Wattigny also suggested that utilities be paid monthly by the tenant.
“In an effort to move this along, we’re suggesting you set a minimum rental rate and lease term and approve the lease so we can get out the bids,” Wattigny said.
The motion was passed unanimously by the board.
