BATON ROUGE — With a pair of road wins, including an upset of No. 5 Kentucky, has vaulted the LSU men’s basketball team to its highest ranking since 2009.

LSU (21-4, 11-1 SEC) jumped six spots to No. 13 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll which was released on Monday.

The last time the Tigers were ranked this high was when LSU was ranked No. 12 back on March 2, 2009. That season the Tigers won the SEC regular season title.

LSU also jumped six spots to No. 15 in the USA Today coaches poll.

LSU will welcome Florida to the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Wednesday night. Tip is scheduled for 6 p.m.

First pitch moved up

LSU’s baseball game on Tuesday against Southeastern Louisiana has been rescheduled for an early start time.

The non-conference game at Alex Box Stadium was originally scheduled for 6:30 p.m but will instead start at 4 p.m. due to severe thunderstorm forecast.

Freshman righty Cole Henry will get the start for No. 1 ranked LSU while lefty Trey Shaffer gets the nod for Southeastern.

Player of the Week

LSU freshman right hander Jaden Hill was selected as the SEC Freshman of the Week on Monday.

Hill pitched five innings during his Tigers debut on Sunday in a 17-5 victory over Air Force. The Arkansas native allowed just one run on four hits while striking out eight Falcons.
