Two arrested in shooting

Two men were arrested early Saturday morning in connection with a shooting in New Iberia’s West End Friday night.

Kenneth Landry Jr. and Deondrick Brown were both arrested and booked into the Iberia Parish Jail, each charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According to a New Iberia Police Department spokesman, detectives responded to the scene of a shooting on Spencer Loop near its intersection with Cletus Street. They were able to identify two individuals involved in the shooting as well as a detailed description of the vehicle they were in.

Shortly after 1 a.m., within two hours of the incident, police say the vehicle was located, occupied by three individuals, including Landry and Brown. A firearm with a high capacity magazine was found in the vehicle.

The victim was treated at a local hospital for  non-life threatening injuries. Landry was released on $10,000 bond. Brown is still being held in the Iberia Parish Jail on a previous warrant from St. Martin Parish.
