1. Barrel racing under the canopy
The National Barrel Horse Association will host a barrel horse racing show for members and non-members tonight at the SugArena at the Acadiana Fairgrounds. Exhibitions open at 6 p.m. and show starts at 7:45 p.m. The SugArena is located at 713 N.W. Bypass (Hwy. 3212) in New Iberia. For more information, call 789-9050. Admission is free.
2. Getting crafty at Shadows-on-the-Teche
Shadows-on-the-Teche hosts more than 100 vendors selling their hand-crafted items Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Items range from fine art to practical wares for kitchens to children’s clothing. Food and drink are available for purchase. Admission is $5 for ages 12 and over and $3 for ages 6-11. Admission includes a tour of the historic house. Contact the Shadows at 369-6446.
3. Turning the plaza fountain green
The members of Fir Mairseail Nua Iberia, Grand Marshall Jerry Shea, local dignitaries and representatives, and Special Olympians will join Mayor Freddie DeCourt Sunday from 2:30-4:30 p.m. as he opens the valve to turn the water in the plaza fountain in front of City Hall Irish Green.
