Vote on bid for splash pad at West End Park set Tuesday

The New Iberia City Council will vote to award a bid for the new splash pad to be constructed at West End Park during Tuesday’s regular meeting.

Planet Recess, which submitted the lowest bid for the project, will construct the splash pad if approved by the City Council.

The council also will vote on a resolution granting the authority to the Mayor to sign and submit all necessary documents, appoint an administrative consultant and engineer for 2010 Community Development Block Program at the meeting.

A resolution in support of the Iberia Association of Educators and Louisiana Association of Educators’ Geaux Red for Ed Campaign is on the agenda as well.

In other business, the City Council will vote to appoint Kim Sheppard and Lyman Thornton Jr. to the Parks and Recreation Board for a term of five years. The term will last from 2019 to 2024.

The council also will vote to amend the budget to appropriate funds according to the lowest contractor quotes for City Hall roof replacements and for the exterior painting to the Bayou Teche Museum. The amendment will also appropriated funds to replace a computer for the Section 8 Department.

Finally, Councilwoman Sherry Guidry is set to discuss library boxes at the council meeting.

The meeting takes place at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at New Iberia City Hall.
