A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2019, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church New Iberia for Francois “Skipper” LaSalle, 55, who passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at his home.

Entombment will follow in Beau Pre Cemetery in Jeanerette.

Rev. Ed Degeyter will be the celebrant.

A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Monday.

A Rosary will be prayed at 9 a.m. on Monday.

A lifelong resident of New Iberia, Francois Xavier “Skipper” LaSalle was born on September 6, 1963, and was a 1981 graduate of Catholic High School. He worked in the oilfield most of his life, specifically in offshore telecommunications. Skipper/“MacGyver” liked to tinker with electronics, especially fixing TVs and radios and flying his drone. Always the animal lover, he adored his pup, Trixie and taking care of his brother’s goats, Gumbo and Roux. Skipper also enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. He was a loving son, brother and friend who will be deeply missed.

Skipper is survived by his mother, Patricia Dumond of New Iberia; sisters Patricia “Pousette” Vincent of New Iberia and Claire “Babette” Lastrapes of New Iberia; brothers Roy “Buddy” LaSalle Jr. and wife Karen of New Hampshire, Thomas LaSalle and wife Katherine of Lafayette and Dr. Michael LaSalle and wife Johnetta, of Houma; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Roy G. LaSalle; and his step-father, Lindsey Dumond.

Pallbearers will be Avery Vincent, Joel Vincent, Bryce Reed, Jean Michael LaSalle, Thomas LaSalle II, Ormond LaSalle and Lawrence “Beau” Lastrapes.

Honorary Pallbearers are Ben Broussard, Mitch Patout, Mark St. Upery and Lee LeBlanc.
