Mrs. Jacob Stephen Berard

Maggie Louise Smith and Jacob Stephen Berard were married Friday, May 24, 2019, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in New Iberia. The bride is the daughter of Mike and Mary Jo Terrell Smith of New Iberia. The groom is the son of Stephen and Joan Louviere Berard of New Iberia.

The Rev. Mark Derise officiated the 7 p.m. ceremony.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a romantic princess wedding dress with off-the-shoulder sleeves of sheer lace and an open back with a cathedral train with a scalloped edge. A stunning silhouette of lace and tulle with shimmering beadwork accented the V-pattern lace across the waist with linear beading accenting the floral lace on the skirt and lace hem. For her headpiece, she wore fingertip veil with beaded trim.

She carried a bouquet of all-white posies wrapped with white satin. The bouquet had Akito roses, peonies, lisianthus, alstromerias accented with white wax, seeded and diamond eucalyptus.

Serving as matron of honor was Meghan Magar Romero. Bridesmaids were Ashley Berard, sister of the groom, Morgan James Smith, sister-in-law of the bride, Caroline Hulin, Emily Reeves, Katelyn Copell.

The flower girls were Logan and Adley Thibodeaux, cousins of the bride. The ring bearer was Max Borres, cousin of the groom.

Serving as best man was Jacob Primeaux. Groomsmen were Eli Berard, brother of the groom, Matthew Smith and Phillip Smith, brothers of the bride, Hale Trahan and Don DeMahy. Adam Reggie and Brennan Landry served as ushers.

A reception for family and friends was held immediately after the ceremony at The Madison Banquet and Reception Centre in Broussard.

Following a wedding trip to Sandals in Grande Antigua, the couple will reside in Duson.
