New Iberia Police seeking suspect in Monday shooting

Tyron Desean Chevalier is wanted on a charge of attempted second-degree murder in connection with a shooting Monday evening on Mississippi Street.

According to a press release, New Iberia Police are seeking a suspect in Monday’s shooting near the intersection of Mississippi and Cletus streets.

NIPD Public Information Officer Capt. John Babin said an arrest warrant has been issued for Tyron Desean Chevalier on charges of attempted second-degree murder, aggravated assault with a firearm, and aggravated criminal damage to property.

The incident, which happened around 6 p.m. Monday, left the victim with a gunshot wound to his chest. Police on the scene say the suspect fled the area in a vehicle after the shooting.
