- Changes to medical staff, board bylaws on Iberia Medical Center agenda
At its regular monthly meeting tonight, the Iberia Medical Center Board of Commissioners will move to accept bids submitted for a new cooling tower on the main campus’ office building.
The board opened the bids on May 16. Five bids were received for the project, with the highest at $516,000. The low bid on the project, from Gallo Mechanical LLC, came in at $383,400.
Gallo was awarded a bid last month for $1.4 million to replace the cooling tower and HVAC system for the hospital’s operating room suite.
The board also is scheduled to consider purchasing a nerve monitoring system for use in neck and head surgery cases. The device has a sensor that is placed near the area where a surgeon is working. If the surgeon moves too close to important nerves, the device sounds an alarm to warn the physician so the nerve does not get damaged.
The board also will consider putting out an advertisement for public bids for a replacement walk-in cooler.
In its executive session, the board is scheduled to discuss retaining legal counsel for a case involving an insurance claim related to an equipment failure.
The Iberia Medical Center Board will meet this evening at 5:30 p.m. in the IMC Board Room on the hospital’s main campus.
