New Iberia Police said a man wanted in Monday’s shooting near the intersection of Mississippi and Cletus streets turned himself in Wednesday evening.
NIPD Public Information Officer Capt. John Babin said Tyron Desean Chevalier turned himself in to police shortly after the department sent out a press release naming him as a suspect.
Chevalier was wanted on charges of attempted second-degree murder, aggravated assault with a firearm, and aggravated criminal damage to property in connection with Monday’s incident.
The shooting, which happened around 6 p.m. Monday, left the victim with a gunshot wound to his chest.
Police on the scene say Chevalier fled the area in a vehicle after the shooting.
No information is available on the status of the victim at this time.
