The descendants of Jonathan Darby, a 20 year old who first arrived in New Orleans in 1719, will be gathering in New Iberia for the 300th anniversary of his arrival in America. The June 20-23 reunion will be based at the Ramada Inn with events planned mainly at New Iberia City Park. Stops on the tour will undoubtly include a drive down Darby Lane, a road well known to the locals.

The young Englishman Darby was noted to be well educated and even assisted in the recruiting process of the new colony for France by writing the names of those unable to do so. History of his influence is available online, but family members and various lines tracing back to him are asked to register for the gathering.

For information contact Nelwyn Hebert at 967-2018 or visit www.Darbyfamilyreunion.org. Registration is $140 for adults, $105 for children 4 to 10 years old, and free under 4.
