- Changes to medical staff, board bylaws on Iberia Medical Center agenda
The Iberia Medical Center Board of Commissioners will hold its monthly meeting Thursday evening to discuss changes to the hospital’s medical staff and board’s bylaws to bring the two documents into agreement.
The proposed change would create a process for any issues between the staff and the board with regard to the process for appointments, reappointments and clinical privileges. Under the proposed change, a joint committee composed of members of the medical staff and the hospital’s board would convene to discuss the conflict, then present its solution to the respective bodies for approval.
The hospital’s Medical Executive Committee and the medical staff approved the proposed change in April. The system laid out in the new proposal is similar to the process the board, medical staff and Iberia Parish Council adopted to handle concerns over the appointment of the medical staff representative to the board earlier this year. A committee made of council members, board members and medical staff members has met multiple times in recent months to work out issues with that process and to keep communication between the three bodies open.
The board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the IMC Board Room on the main campus.
