A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2019, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Juanita Albert Gaspard, 79, of New Iberia passed away on Sunday July 7, 2019, at Bayou Shadows Rehabilitation at New Iberia Manor South.
Interment will follow in the Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Erath.
Rev. Garrett Savoie will be the celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
Juanita was born on March 14, 1940, in Youngsville, the eldest of three children to the late Alfred and Louise Landry Albert. She married Nellin Gaspard on January 26, 1958, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in New Iberia and they were blessed with two sons. A lifelong resident of New Iberia, she was a dedicated parishioner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed.
Juanita leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 61 years, Nellin Gaspard; sons Larry Gaspard Sr. and wife Sarah Gaspard and Kelvin Gaspard and wife Christine Gaspard; grandchildren Marietta Gaspard Ditch and husband Chris Ditch and Larry Gaspard Jr. and wife Tanya Gaspard; three great-grandchildren Mason Ditch 11, Gunnar Ditch 9 and Charlotte Gaspard 1, all of New Iberia; her younger brother Ernest Albert and wife, Jackie Albert, of Milton and sister Verna Albert Blanchard and husband. Ronald Blanchard, of St. Martinville; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Larry Gaspard Sr., Kelvin Gaspard, Larry Gaspard Jr., Chris Ditch, Timmy Albert and Burton Bernard.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Ernest Albert, Mason Ditch, Gunnar Ditch, Charlotte Gaspard and Ronald Blanchard.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations in her name to Catholic High School, 1301 DeLaSalle Drive, New Iberia, LA 70560 or to the church fund of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 1303 St. Jude Ave, New Iberia, LA 70560, since she was so passionate about the Catholic faith and Catholic education.
