World Acadian Day — Celebrating the Acadians near and far

- The church, also serves as a local museum, houses many interesting artifacts such as an original aboiteau, a mechanism early Acadians used in their dike systems to allow fresh water to drain their property while protecting the land from salt water intrusion brought twice daily by high tides.
Many of the families from this area ultimately immigrated to Louisiana in 1765, such as the Breaux, Broussard, Comeaux, Blanchard, Leger, Girouard, Gaudet, LaBauve and Boudreaux families. While listening to traditional fiddle music, Frigault was served, a local chicken and vegetable soup with dumplings.
Warren Perrin of Lafayette, Louisiana, addressed the gathering and gave greetings from Louisiana, then Prof. Stephan White, of the University of Moncton, gave a genealogy lecture.
