- Contractors position the new cupola for the old U.S. Post Office building in New Iberia for installation Thursday morning.
The old U.S. Post Office building on Main Street in New Iberia has a new do, so to speak.
Contractors hoisted the building’s new cupola today, mounting the cap to the 6×6 supports on the building’s roof.
The original cupola was part of the building’s initial construction, which took four years and was completed in 1902. The original was deemed too far gone for further repair and was taken down in June.
